I moved once as a child, from around the corner, which wasn't a hell of a move if im honest. All I remember of that day is my brother arriving to the new house with our then dog sam (Rest in peace little man) and eating mcdonalds in front of a roaring open coal fire (why my parents ever had it closed in is beyond me, it was so beautiful.) The house we moved to, the house I live in now, belonged to my lovely Nanna, and she gave birth to my Dad, right in our Dining Room! I as a child had fond memories of this house, as I pretty much grew up here, watched over by my Nanna and her Brother until my parents finished work. My most recent moving memory of moving, was not so simple, helping Simon move from his parents, to his childhood home, then back to his parents just a year later. The amount of time it took to get organised to help Simon move was enough to ensure this move runs as smoothly as possible! Me and Simon are more than pretty sure the house we've applied for is ours, but until the Landlord returns from his jollies tomorow, we cannot be one hundred percent sure. In the meantime to stop myself going stir crazy, i've diverted my attention to the moving process itself.

We are only moving five minutes away assisted by family, however if you are moving via a removal company, you will also probably need the details of your removal company (numbers etc) and some snacks and drinks also!
Generalised moving tips
-Label individual boxes with the room they will be going into
-Newspaper or bubblewrap your fragiles
-Use 'this way up' and 'fragile' labels where neccesary
-Arrange care for both children, and pets on moving day
-Have an easy take-out/ready meal on moving day (You most likely will not want to dig pans out and cook)
-Dont order furniture until you've measure your doors and spaces
-Dont pay for packing boxes if you dont have to, they are overpriced! Go to your local stores (usually the smaller ones are better, and express stores) and ask if they have any spare boxes, chances are they are happy to be rid of a few with no cost for you.
-Keep your packing boxes flat in a dry location such as attic or shed for future uses!
and relax, take your time, and enjoy the process.
Happy Nesting little birdies.
