Behind the scenes

I have recently just attended my first ever photography workshop, held by the one and only Rosie Hardy! It was a wedding workshop and was held in my home town of Blackpool (THANKYOU fate). Since Rosie began her workshops, attending them felt like a distant dream to me, so you can only imagine my excitement when I was lucky enough to be able to actually go to one. Since the moment I hit the 'pay deposit' button on her website I have been bouncing off the walls with excitement, anxiety, more excitement and pure child-like giddyness. I was about to meet the young lady behind the work I used as contextuals all throughout sixth form and my year at university. And more importantly I was about to meet the person who brought magic, and hope during my depression and anxiety. And on that note, it feels only right I begin to explain the reason I pushed myself to attend the workshop in the first place.

The crazy cat that is Rosie Hardy, prior to falling on her ass!

For me attending the workshop wasn't for all the same reasons as everybody else who attended. Of course we had common ground in being photography enthusiasts and a lover of miss Rosie Hardys incredible work. But for me, I didnt attend for career purposes, no, I went to try something completely out of my comfort zone, to jump off the cliff and risk falling with the hope of flying. And incase you were wondering, I flew. And in the process shocked Myself, Simon and our families.

The workshop itself was a truely magical day, we galavanted up and down the promenade, on the beach and up and down the pier in beautiful sunshine shooting her wonderful model couple, Hannah & Sebastian. Rosie herself was everything I imagined and more, absolutely bubbly and full of life, she was super helpful and patient with myself who wasn't as advanced as some of the photographers and she made us all feel at home in her company. The group that came together we're just as lovely, it felt like we had begun our first day at school together, and finished for good, all on the same day, it was said to say goodbye.

So for anyone silly enough to question going to one of Rosie Hardys workshops, I seriously seriously reccomend it, you will have the time of your life. So much so, that I clicked the deposit button once again for her second workshop in blackpool (fate, you are blummin wonderful).

Date night

I think when people hear the phrase 'date night' they think, struggling married couple who barely bat an eye lid at one and other because they are so rushed off their feet with children, pets, work, trying to pay the mortgage and head off on that summer cruise that's been long promised. Not true guys! I think for couples in any circumstances, date night is a great way to throw aside the technology and say screw you to the world for a little while. When on our five year anniversary away, we had a biiig realisation! We couldn't believe the time we had for one another, we focused on each other, we listened and we had a great time. Probably because we didn't have work, or a house to run, bills to pay, a future to plan or family and friends to worry about. And not to mention we had no phone signal, a blessing in disguise.

So when we arrived home we decided each Wednesday we would have a date night, set aside our phones and have some quality us time.

Home-made pizzas (so scrummy, dominoes watch out!) which we ate in candle light.

Goodies are a must on a movie night, those red tubes are my absolute addiction right now! We watched Thumbelina my absolute favourite film growing up, it's a classic.

I saw these jammies in Primark and just couldn't resist.

And only my favourite person ever, looking wonderfully masculine in a ditsy floral duvet cover.
